Since May 2017, we have grown the representation of women at the VP and SVP level (35% growth) and at the Corporate Store Manager level (20% growth).

WASTE REDUCTION

Before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 70% of customers were bringing their reusable bags or not using a bag at all.

Sustainable Sourcing

94% of Compliments and Sensations fresh and frozen seafood offered in store is certified as sustainable (e.g. Marine Stewardship Council, Best Aquaculture Practices).

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT

With our customers, $780,000 was raised to support grassroots programs, in addition to our donation of $800,000+ in food and funds to support nutrition education and community programs for Special Olympics Canada.

Diversity and Inclusion

Our senior leaders continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to Diversity and Inclusion. We have created a Diversity and Inclusion Council and launched the Diversity Self Identification process with strong support from senior leadership.

Nearly 9 million meals donated from diverted surplus food and distributed through community partners across Canada.

Sustainable Sourcing

We offer certified Fairtrade fresh products such as bananas and flowers, as well as Fairtrade products like coffee and chocolate in our Compliments brand.

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of dollars in food and funds were donated to help vulnerable neighbours, and $1 million+ committed to 22 major food banks.

Diversity and Inclusion

4 women leaders recognized by STAR Women in Grocery awards, as well as receiving the Employer Initiative of the Year award by the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion for our Sensory Friendly Shopping hours in 450 stores across Canada.

CLIMATE ACTION

Initiatives such as recommissioning HVAC systems and lighting retrofits in our stores and warehouses have resulted in the reduction of nearly 8,000 tonnes of CO2e.
